Before going there "The Time Traveler's Wife" was adapted from the Audrey Niffenegger book of the same title.
Here was a man with an ability to go back and forward in time relative to his own lifetime due to a genetic disorder called chrono-displacement. He can't change his past or control his future. In all circumstances, he was without clothes on his back thus he acquired survival skills (such as lock-picking, self-defense etc) to obtain clothes and not look inconspicuousness while waiting for the moment to be returned to his own present.

I don't know whether I'm disappointed due the unresolved ending or whether I missed the point of the movie. *sigh* For me the movie, touched on soul mates (as Henry, the time traveler is/was always drawn to Claire,) acceptance, trials, and 'life is too short' perception. I couldn't help but think about 'living the moment' after watching the movie.
We didn't see Claire's actions of having the Carpe Diem attitude throughout the movie after finding her special love. They didn't go off gallivanting around the world and doing their bucket lists instead they made a home, she went to her art gallery, and together raised a child as long as Henry could stay put.
The inevitable came and Henry ceased time traveling. It was heart-wrenching to find out that of all people it was a family member who had unintentionally done him in. I won't put so much spoilers in case someone hasn't read the book or seen the movie.
Lastly, their daughter has the ability to travel in time but she can control it. I wonder if the doctor would have found the cure to help Henry? Wait... I just remembered. Just like Henry who couldn't save his mother from the tragic car accident, Alba wouldn't be able to bring an antidote to the past but then, we saw Alba in clothes when she traveled to her past history whereas for Henry, he had no clothes on his back at all, (future traveling and past traveling.) It makes me wonder what else Alba can control. Did you notice it too?
